Veterans Memorial of Garland County

A tribute to all who served—and to the families who stood beside them.

Our Mission

The Garland County Memorial and Military Park is a tribute to all veterans who served in the United States of America military at any time and/or their families.

Dedicated in 2009, this memorial originated as the “dream” of Morris Cash, who spent over 20 years in planning and raising awareness of the need for a memorial of this kind in Garland County. Working with countless other locals and veterans, Morris was instrumental in not only locking in the property for the memorial with the city of Hot Springs but he was also involved in the fundraising efforts required to make this memorial a reality. His tireless efforts and his devotion to the service men and women of our area, will not go without merit. Morris Cash created the design concept and is the reason we have this beautiful memorial to honor those who served our great country and the families that supported them.

The memorial features the names of service men and women and/or family members or organizations on bricks and pavers that cover the floor of the memorial.

There are five panels around the main memorial that represent the five branches of the military. These panels have the names of the Silver Star recipients engraved on them. At the center of the memorial is an obelisk that has the names of the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross recipients engraved on it.

In 2015, the Fallen Hero Memorial Statue in the likeness of Navy Seal Adam Brown, was dedicated. This bronze statue represents all the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country.

Through the years, the committee has added benches that represent each branch of the service, an M-60 Army battle tank, a Purple Heart monument and a beautiful black granite monument to honor all POW-MIA. We have also added larger pavers that may be purchased for your family names, or a business or group that supports veterans and their families.

Deadlines for ordering bricks and/or pavers is always April 1 in order to have your brick/paver placed by Memorial Day, or they are due no later than September 1, in order to be placed for Veterans Day. Delays in shipping may affect paver placement date, however our best effort to place pavers on time shall be made. Each year, a committee member reads the names of the newest bricks/pavers during the particular event that is closest to the placing of that brick/paver.

You do not have to be a veteran in order to purchase a brick/paver for the Garland County Veterans Memorial Park. Businesses are also welcome to show their support with the purchase of a brick/paver along with graduation classes, families, and/or Organizations.
